Opening of a joint laboratory of aeroponic technologies for vertical plant cultivation20.03.2021
Plant Factory pays special attention to the implementation of advanced solutions in their projects. As part of technologies development, our company cooperates with the leading research institutes of the Russian Federation. The key scientific partner of our company is the St. Petersburg Federal Research Center (SPC RAS), which has exceptional competencies in the development of scalable digital solutions and production robotization. In the middle of 2020, a "Cooperation Agreement" was officially signed between the Plant Factory and the St. Petersburg Federal Research Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
As part of the partnership, it was decided to create a joint "Laboratory of aeroponic technologies for vertical plant cultivation." This complex is intended for carrying out research work in the field of cultivation of closed light cultures and technological support of vertical aeroponic farms.
On March 1, 2021, the construction of the laboratory was completed, the complex was equipped with specialized equipment and systems provided by the Plant Factory, including: an aeroponic plant nutrition system, a LED lighting system based on a wide range of phyto-lamps, as well as a temperature and humidity control and air management systems. SPC RAS additionally provided a number of sensor modules for monitoring environmental parameters.
On the basis of this laboratory, it is planned to conduct research on automation and robotization of vertical farms, as well as a number of tests of systems and devices prototypes developed by our company, such as a prototype of a fertigation unit of our own production and an intelligent system of point lighting control for phyto-lamps based on LEDs 7th generation.
Combining the competencies of the innovative production company "Plant Factory" and the deep research potential of the departments of the SPC RAS will contribute to the development of advanced industrial solutions and technologies for automation and robotization of vertical aeroponic farms.
It is planned that first researches on the basis of this laboratory will begin at the end of March 2021.
